Simple Banana Bread

Whenever I’m asked what my favorite thing is to make, I tell people it’s banana bread. After I started sharing this, it has been interesting to find out how many people like it plain vs. with nuts or chocolate chips.

My first attempt was making simple banana bread. As I grow older and more adventurous I’ve found I enjoy it plain just as much as I do with nuts or chocolate chips. Walnuts or Pecans go great with this recipe.

Here is how I make simple banana bread.

First gather all the ingredients.

Banana Bread

Grab 1 egg.

Scramble the egg in a mixing bowl.

Banana Bread

Grab 3 bananas, the riper the better banana flavor your bread will have.

Mash the bananas and scrambled egg together.

Banana Bread

Set aside the wet ingredients and combine the sugar and flour in another bowl.

  • 3/4 cups sugar with
  • 1/ 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

Banana Bread

Add the remaining dry ingredients.

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Whisk together the dry ingredients.

Banana Bread

Add wet ingredients to the dry ingredients.

Banana Bread

Measure 1/4 cup olive oil.

Add the olive oil and mix. I prefer to use olive oil rather than vegetable oil. I think it gives it a better flavor.

Banana Bread

(Optional) add any nuts or chocolate chips if desired. Walnuts go great with this recipe.

Spay a loaf dish with non-stick cooking spray.

Banana Bread

Pour batter into prepared loaf dish.

Banana Bread

Bake on 350 degrees for 55 minutes.

You can also check if this is done by using the wooden skewer trick.

This is what it should look like when it’s done.
