Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
I’ve always loved a good oatmeal raisin cookie. It never occurred to me how many ingredients were involved. It wasn’t until I started making these on my own that I appreciated what goes into them. I think the recipe on the box of Quaker Oats is the best.

Recipe adapted from the packaging of Quaker Oats Oatmeal, Old Fashioned, 42 oz (affiliate link)

Disclaimer, my father worked for the Quaker Oats Company for 33 years. I might be a little biased toward the Quaker Oats brand and this recipe. We always had Quaker Oatmeal in the house growing up as far back as I can remember.

Here is how I make oatmeal raisin cookies.

First, gather the ingredients.

Oatmeal Raisin 01Start with combining the following in a mixing bowl.

  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 stick of unsalted butter

Mixed until smooth and creamy.

Oatmeal Raisin 03Grab 2 eggs.

Add the eggs and mix.

Oatmeal Raisin 05

Add 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Oatmeal Raisin 30

Combine the dry ingredients in another bowl.

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Oatmeal Raisin 07Whisk together the dry ingredients.

Oatmeal Raisin 08

Add the dry ingredients to the butter sugar mixture.

Oatmeal Raisin 09Measure 3 cups old fashioned oats.

Add the oats.

Oatmeal Raisin 10Measure 1/2 cup raisins.
Add the raisins to the mix.

Oatmeal Raisin 14

I prefer Sun Maid Natural California Raisins, 20-Ounce, just in case you wondering.

Mix until dough forms. and looks something like this.

Oatmeal Raisin 16Each cookie is about one spoon full. If you are fancy, a cookie scoop would be useful here. But I don’t have one of those so I just use two spoons. Good news! I have cookie scoops now! yeah!!

Oatmeal Raisin 17Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.

Remove from the oven and let cool on drying rack before storing.

Oatmeal Raisin 22Here is a close up just to make you crave these a even more. Check out the hills and valleys!

Oatmeal Raisin 29Do you have variations you like? Do you add nuts to your oatmeal raisin cookies perhaps? Please comment and share below.
